East Looe 4 miles
Sand, rocky outcrops, concreted sitting/ picnic area. Banjo pier and river with self-drive boats, speedboats, shark fishing headquarters of Great Britain, also bottom fishing trips.
Downderry 3.5 miles
Long straight sand, and shingle beach with rock pools, swimming, boating. Exceptional water quality. All facilities, including shops, cafes, etc are nearby in the village.The Inn on the Shore has a decked area, with views to Rame Head to the east and Looe to the west.
Whitsand Bay 5 miles
Three mile stretch of fine sandy beach, backed by slate cliffs, reached by paths at Freathy, Tregonhawke and Tregantle. Clifftop car parks toilets and refreshments at Freathy. Rip currents can make bathing unsafe at times and the bay is patrolled by lifeguards based at Tregantle and Tregonhawke from mid-June to mid-September.
Seaton 3 miles
Adjoining Downderry, Seaton is at the river's mouth and has a large sand and shingle beach with rock pools. The river enters the sea at this point, running across the beach and giving sandy and shallow paddling popular for children. All facilities nearby, including car parks, toilets, cafe and pub. Exceptionally easy access. The Seaton valley is very pretty and there are many walks through the woods and along the valley.
Talland Bay 6 miles
Rocks and some sand, pretty, used by smugglers as recently as 1979. Cafes close by.
Lantic Bay 11 miles
Exquisite secluded bay with many coves. Sand and very fine shingle. Steep path down but worth the effort. National Trust area. Superb scenery.
